چکیده

Some proton-incident data have been published on elastic-scattering and total-reaction cross sections in the intermediate energy region. Such results as well as experimental data obtained by polarized proton beams are useful for parametrizing global optical model potentials in detail. In contrast, neutronincident experiments on elastic scattering are more difficult than proton ones, so that there is a limitation on neutron-incident data. It is, therefore, interesting to convert the proton-incident global optical model potentials into neutron-incident ones. The authors introduce (N-Z)/A dependent symmetry potential terms to the proton-incident optical potentials, and then obtain neutron-incident ones. The neutron potentials reproduce total cross sections in an acceptable degree. However, a comparison with potentials proposed by other authors brings about a confused situation in the sign of the symmetry terms.

Fe b 19 97 Progress in the Development of Global Medium - Energy Nucleon - Nucleus Optical Model Potentials

Two existing global medium-energy nucleon-nucleus phenomenological optical model potentials are described and compared with experiment and with each other. The first of these employs a Dirac approach (second-order reduction) that is global in projectile energy and projectile isospin and applies to the target nucleus 208 Pb. Here the standard S-V (isoscalar-scalar, isoscalar-vector) model has be...

Neutron star equations of state with optical potential constraint

Many properties of nuclei and nuclear matter can be well described with modern phenomenological energy density functionals (EDF). A particular strong constraint represents the observation of two pulsars of approx. two solar masses [1]. It requires a sufficiently stiff equation of state (EoS) at densities well above the nuclear saturation density. Since nucleons of large momenta interact with th...

A QUARTIC POTENTIAL FOR THE NUCLEONIC QUARKS

We assume that each valence quark in a nucleon is in a phenomenological modified harmonic oscillator potential of the form: ( l+yo) (ar +br+cr +dr ), where a, b, c and d are constants and ? is one of the Dirac matrices. Then by making use of a suitable ansatz, the Dirac equation has a very simple solution which is exact. We then have calculated the static properties of the nucleon in the ...

Microscopic calculation of in-medium proton-proton cross sections.

We derive in-medium proton-proton cross sections in a microscopic model based upon the Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential and the Dirac-Brueckner approach for nuclear matter. We demonstrate the difference between protonproton and neutron-proton cross sections and point out the need to distinguish carefully between the two cases. We also find substantial differences between our in-medium cross secti...
